This Tour gives you a short insight into the northern Part of the South Island and is perfectly fitted for those, who don't have enough time to travel both islands, but just want to have a "quick look" into the South Island or this Tour is the start of your South Island Adventures.
The Tour enables you to discover the beautiful northern part of the South Island. You will be able to live within the wildlife of the Queen Charlotte Sound and Abel Tasman Park. Enjoy the nature in untouched bays, swim with seals, go for some awesome hikes and relax at deserted beaches.
Making our way from Te Kuiti down to Wellington along the fabulous Tasman Ocean, with views over black sand beaches and passing Mount Taranaki with his .... peak. We stop at Wanganui for some lunch and you sit back and relax and enjoy the ride. We will sleep over in Wellington.
After you crossed over from Wellington, the city of the winds, and had a first insight into the fantastic sounds we take a tour around the Queen Charlotte Drive and head direction Abel Tasman Park. A Stop in Nelson for Lunch and further on we go to Marahau where we stay overnight and discuss our first impressions . Time to relax and plan the next days.
Either you start the day with some seakajaking or take the boat taxi to anchorage bay. There you either walk further on to Bark Bay and come back or relax at the beach. This night we will sleep over on a ship, where we enjoy a very good barbeque and have a chat with other travellers.
After a good breakfast and making our lunch for the day we get dropped off at the beach and walk out along the ocean with invitingly sandy beaches for swimming. The walk is very easy, though that we can go further on this day to Golden Bay/Farewell Spit where we make our home for the day and we might get lucky enough to have some selfcatched seafood for dinner.
This day we either go for the Farewell Spit or do a little hike in the Tasman Mountains. Then we head back towards Picton and get ourselves organized for our next adventure, the Queen Charlotte Track.
We start early and take the water taxi into the sound as far as we planned and start walking. This remote area is like a little paradise. You might even be able to see blue penguins. Experience native bush and get stunned by the beautiful views into the sound. After this enjoyable day the water taxi picks us up again and we make our way back to Picton. At a nice dinner we sit back, relax and reflect the impressions we made in the last few days.
D-Day. We either cross over to Wellington, have a look at the Te Papa Museum and after a short break heading back to Te Kuiti or we go further on and explore more of the South Island.
This Tour is reasonably flexible and needs only an average of fitness level.
